The Former Whitby Republic of Castle Park
The map to the right shows the Castle Park Estate on the extreme West of the beautiful and medieval town of Whitby in North Yorkshire.

NORTH of the estate is the village of Sandsend, a new set of "upper-class" houses has been built on the end of Field Close which could mean more representatives to the Castle Park ranks.
WEST of the estate are fields owned by crazy farmers who brandish large guns, searchlights and tractors they allow their stinking cattle to wander naked through the streets in order to kill off residents.
EAST of the estate is the Arundale Garage, Love Lane and the SPAR shop.
SOUTH of the estate is the Sneaton Castle Penguin School- there is currently a big housing development called Castle Links being built on the site of the Old Nun's field which we used to play on. This will now provide housing for ex-cons.

Castle Park currently operates both a football team and cricket side. The lads usually take on teams made up of crazy Whitby College 6th formers. The Castle Park players range from 12-23 year old (supposedly!!!)

Castle Park have no hierachy structure but currently the football team is run by well me usually. The cricket team is a bit more hit and miss.Anyway this site is dedicated to the characters who turn out at short notice against some of the most aggressive and craziest opposition around.

Castle Park Landmarks
Look out for the following:

Highfield Road Community Centre
The drainpipe is now steel plaited thanks to Sug's boot.

Highfield Road Playing Field
Don't be suprised to see Castle Park players practising their soccer skills on this extremely narrow field on Sunday afternoons.

The Old Tennis Courts, Highfield Road
Now just concrete.

The Park, Back of Derwent Road
Features the old football pitch which is now a total bog. It used to have a metal goal structure but it was deemed a death trap and removed.
Now used as a skatepark.

Bring back the Golden Days!
Help us bring back the golden days of the estate, like the 90s when the Park was a beautiful green field attracting hundreds of keen footballers to use the extensive facilities. The marble drains were revolutionary. The 5 a side goals which were stolen from the empty house on Highfield Road were there.
There was no grafiti on the concrete wall and there were swings and a roundabout for the kids(removed in the late eighties) but I still remember them!

Please write to the RAF, who own the Park and Tennis Courts(the estate is for Army families-with exceptions)and demand a makeover for the estate to bring back the crowds and the atmosphere of those endless summer nights. Yadayadayada.....
It will however seriously dent the profits of Tuby's Amusement Arcades, Pier Road, Whitby.

If you have any info on our beautiful? estate please....
